Board of Education candidates finalized for this November (and the three Democrats are running again
Rolf Maurer has been endorsed by the Green Party, meaning, for all intents and purposes, he will battle Altamura and Cerasoli to get one of the two seats which will not go to the Democrats due to minority representation rules.
I received from the Town Clerk the list of candidates for Board of Ed this November:
Jon Gallup - Democratic Party
David Mannis - Democratic Party
Jackie Pioli - Democratic Party
Mike Altamura - Write In
Frank Cerasoli - Write In
Mannis, Altamura, and Cerasoli are all incumbents; the latter two as Republicans (as discussed previously, a Republican Town Committee filing glitch meant Altamura and Cerasoli had to collect signatures to appear on the ballot, and will be listed without a party affiliation).
Because of minority representation rules, the Democrats can only win one more seat on the Board of Ed, giving them six out of nine, with the remaining two defaulting to the next two highest vote-getters (Altamura and Cerasoli). Therefore, the only contested race is the one between the three Democrats seeking the seat. Whoever of Gallup, Mannis, and Pioli receives the most votes this November will be the sixth and final Democrat on the Board of Education for the 2018-19 year (three seats are up for election each year for a three-year term).
The Republicans are fortunate no minor party (i.e., Green, Independent, or Libertarian) endorsed a candidate, as it would have been a great opportunity to steal a seat.
